The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining and operating the city’s parks, recreation facilities, and programs. The department offers a variety of recreational activities and programs for all ages, including athletics, special events, arts and crafts, aquatics, and more. The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing quality parks, recreation facilities, and programs that enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Kingsport. The department strives to provide a safe and enjoyable park system that meets the needs of the community.

The department is governed by a board of commissioners, which consists of seven members appointed by the mayor. The board meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium.
